Authorities in Phoenix, Arizona, are investigating a heartbreaking incident after a young boy died Wednesday evening after being found inside a vehicle, according to police.
Emergency responders and Phoenix police officers were dispatched to a home near Baseline Road and 24th Street in south Phoenix at approximately 6:32 p.m. following reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, officers located a boy in critical condition after he had been found inside a vehicle by a parent. Paramedics quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials have not yet released the child’s age or how long he may have been inside the vehicle. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation.
The medical examiner’s office is expected to determine the official cause of death. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and review details to establish a full understanding of what occurred.
